Cleyman Arthur - Predoctoral fellow
Bio
Arthur is a motivated scientist with a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology from Ghent University. He is passionate about tackling some of our most pressing societal challenges, particularly bioenergy and microplastic pollution. As a master student, his research was focused on plant development in the lab of Dirk Inzé and development of a forward genetic screen in diatoms in the lab of Lieven De Veylder. After his master, Arthur continued to work on microalgae in Lieven’s lab as a PhD student, where he established new diatom transfection techniques and gained hands-on experience with powerful biotechnological tools like CRISPR-Cas. Ultimately, Arthur would love to apply his skills to innovate new, microalgae-based solutions for environmental problems.
